Sky Bet Championship: Matchday 14 review

Burnley and Hull City closed the gap on Sky Bet Championship leaders Brighton & Hove Albion on Matchday 14.

The third-placed Clarets secured a 2-1 victory over Huddersfield Town thanks to an Andre Gray double, and the Tigers were 2-0 winners at Milton Keynes Dons, while the table-topping Seagulls could only draw at Reading.

Middlesbrough and Derby County both have a point fewer than those two sides, after tasting success against Charlton Athletic and Rotherham United respectively.

Birmingham City remain in the top six despite losing 2-0 to rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.

The Matchday 14 action got under way on Thursday with another televised fixture, in which Blackburn Rovers beat Leeds United 2-0.

Friday night’s televised game saw Brentford record a long overdue win over West London rivals QPR, and Preston North End drew 0-0 with Bolton Wanderers in Saturday evening’s game on Sky Sports.

Earlier in the day on Saturday, Sheffield Wednesday saw off Nottingham Forest 1-0 to cap off a week that included a 3-0 Capital One Cup win over Premier League Arsenal.
