Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal: We got what we deserved

28 October 2015

Carlos Carvalhal believes his Sheffield Wednesday side were deserving of their Capital One Cup Round 4 success over Premier League Arsenal.

The Owls convincingly beat the Gunners 3-0 with goals from Ross Wallace, Lucas Joao and Sam Hutchinson, and that sent them into the Cup Quarter-Final draw which takes place on Wednesday.

It also extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to nine games, and Carvalhal praised his players.

“We got exactly what we deserved tonight as the players worked incredibly hard,” he told swfc.co.co.uk after the victory.

“They did everything that I asked of them before the game which was very pleasing, and they deserve all of the credit.

“Arsenal had international players like Cech, Debuchy and Mertesacker in their starting line-up, and we were still the better team on the night.

“The reason we won this game is because of our work rate, but also because of our quality.

“For this run to continue we need to keep our feet on the ground and understand why we are winning games, as we can learn from wins just as much as losses.”
