Sheffield Wednesday extend unbeaten run with 2-1 win at Rotherham United

23 October 2015

Sheffield Wednesday extended their unbeaten Sky Bet Championship run to seven games with a 2-1 win over Rotherham United in the South Yorkshire derby.

The Owls haven't lost a game in the League since mid-September, and their latest victory means Millers boss Neil Redfearn is still in search of his first triumph since taking over as manager.

After a goalless first half, Wednesday exploded into life at the restart, netting twice within four minutes.

First, Lucas Joao tapped home for the first goal of the game, before Fernando Forestieri doubled the lead soon after.

Hosts Rotherham hit a late consolation through Tom Thorpe, but fell to their third defeat in four games.

The result keeps Carlos Carvalhal's men ninth in the standings with 20 points, while Rotherham remain in the relegation zone after 13 rounds of action.
