Neal Ardley delighted with AFC Wimbledon's defensive effort in win over Barnet

5 October 2015

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley said his team 'defended like lions' in their 2-0 Sky Bet League 2 victory over Barnet.

It was the first clean sheet of the season for the Dons and Ardley was pleased with the performance of his backline, who withstood plenty of second-half pressure from the Bees.

"They have gone out there and probably faced more balls into the box and more bodies committed in there than they ever have, but they have defended like lions," the 43-year-old told the club's official site.

"The whole back four and the 'keeper can have smiles on their faces and can enjoy the clean sheet."

Wimbledon currently sit 13th in Sky Bet League 2, but Ardley is confident his team will continue to climb the table if they continue to perform at that level.

"We had to put in a performance of character. Although we were deep at times, we defended our box resiliently.

"I don’t look at the table at the moment and I ask everybody to look at the performances of the team. A lot of things are right and points will come."
