Johnstone's Paint Trophy: Round 2 player reaction

7 October 2015

Round 2 of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy was action-packed, and players took to social media to offer their reaction.

Yanic Wildschut netted a super strike to earn Wigan Athletic a win against Crewe Alexandra, and that was his first goal for the club since joining on loan from Middlesbrough.

Happy with my first goal for the club and with the win. Lads were brilliant! @LaticsOfficial ⚪️🔵

In the same game, Wigan striker Grant Holt made his long-awaited return from injury, entering the fray midway through the second half.

Good come back from the lads really glad to be back and involved been a long time. Thanks to everyone who helped along the way

There was also good news regarding Crewe defender George Ray, who was stretchered off after a collision with the Latics' Francisco Junior.

Ray was taken to Leighton Hospital for assessment and tweeted his appreciation for the support.

Thanks to all the staff and paramedics at Crewe for the speed they got to me on the pitch last night. Never nice getting in them situations.

Elsewhere, Sheffield United thumped Notts County 5-1 in a match that saw Kieron Freeman play against his former employers.

Nice to play against my old team @Official_NCFC wish them all the best this season

Blackpool were another Sky Bet League 1 side to win, beating Port Vale 2-1, and it was a significant night for youngster Luke Higham.

Delighted to make my professional debut for my boyhood club and with the 2-1 win vs port vale tonight 😊🍊

Jordan Graham was another player to mark a milestone, marking his Oxford United home debut with a victory against their fierce rivals Swindon Town.

What a home debut and what a team performance!! Buzzing to be through to the next round!! Over the moon for @roofe39 for the double! 👀⚽️🙌🏾⚠️

United's Kemar Roofe was at the double in that match, and it's safe to say it was a game that he enjoyed.

What a way to round up 3 games in 7 days. Quality effort from the squad. That was my favourite game of my career!!
