Joe Cole raring to go ahead of Coventry City debut – Tony Mowbray

20 October 2015

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has confirmed that Joe Cole will make his Sky Blues debut in Sky Bet League 1 on Tuesday night against Rochdale.

Cole's month-long loan switch to the Ricoh Arena from Aston Villa was confirmed on Monday after he initially agreed to the move on Friday.

Boss Mowbray, who watched his side draw 0-0 with Blackpool last time out, believes the attacking midfielder's class will shine through.

"Good players can play anywhere, he's a football man so he'll understand this league,” the manager told

"Joe is raring to go and it's refreshing to see how excited he is about playing. Whether he's up for 90 minutes I don't know, but I'd say he is fit to start from what I've seen so far. But whether we take that option or not is another issue.

"Joe will probably tell you better than I do, but he wants to play football. He's 33 not 43 and he's still got part of his illustrious career to go.”

Cole has made one appearance for parent club Villa this term, coming on as a second-half substitute in their Capital One Cup victory over Notts County.

"The club impressed me, I watched them play and the move just seems right." #CCFC's Joe Cole
