In-form Luton Town bid to end barren spell against York City

8 October 2015

Luton Town may sit top of the Sky Bet League 2 form table, but they have a stern test to keep their winning run going when facing York City this weekend.

That's based on recent results between the two clubs, with the Minstermen having lost just one of the last 13 encounters.

Back in the Conference in 2009/10, the pair faced off four times, in two regular season games that produced two draws, before York were victorious by a solitary goal in both legs of a Play-Off semi-final.

They were defeated by Oxford United at Wembley, though, and the Hatters exacted some revenge in the next meeting with a thumping 5-0 win at Kenilworth Road.

But, since that day, Luton have had little joy. York have racked up three draws and five wins in the eight games since, including another Wembley final which clinched their return to The Football League.

The pair were reunited in The League last term and the spoils were shared on both occasions, but four wins out of four stand John Still's men in good stead for the weekend, against a York side winless in five.

Can Luton extend their current form in League 2, or will their barren spell against York continue? You can find out by following our matchday coverage on Twitter, via @SkyBetLeague2.
