El-Khayati was delighted with his fine solo effort that put the gloss on the result, telling the club's official website: "I made a move to the left and I thought that I should do my thing and go for the goal.
"It is always a good feeling to score especially for me after the last few weeks. I had a feeling I could do better, especially in the final third, but finally I have my goal.
"I normally cut inside, but this time I went outside to come back inside again. I have to mix it up a bit.
"We had a few disappointing results but now we have three points against a tough opponent like Port Vale and it's always good when you win because you can be happy, work hard, and look to the next game."
