Final Third Development League - West DivisionBurton Albion kicked off the week's action with a 2-0 home success over Morecambe, courtesy of a goal in each half from Timmy Thiele.
Wigan Athletic defeated Shrewsbury Town 4-0, but it was a closer contest than the scoreline suggested.
The game was goalless going into the final 13 minutes, but Sean Murray, Danny O'Brien, Sanmi Odelusi and Sam Cosgrove all scored in a remarkable climax to the match.
Final Third Development League - East Division
Hartlepool United came back from two goals down to inflict a 3-2 defeat on Rotherham United.
The Millers were looking good after efforts from Jerry Yates and Kuda Muskwe, but a Brad Walker free-kick and a Scott Fenwick brace completed the turnaround to give Pools the points.
On Thursday, Chesterfield ran out 1-0 winners at home to Grimsby Town, with Emmanuel Dieseruvwe's first-half goal proving to be the matchwinner.
Final Third Development League Cup - North Group B
It was goals galore as Middlesbrough romped to a 6-2 win over York City, with Bradley Fewster hitting a hat-trick.
Jordan Jones, Callum Johnson and Bradley Halliday - who was York's Young Player of the Season when on loan there last term - also netted for Boro, while the Minstermen responded through Rhys Turner and Emile Sinclair.
Final Third Development League Cup - North Group D
After an impressive start in the League, Notts County extended their good form to the Cup, where they cruised to a 5-1 success over Scunthorpe United.
Kyle Wootton gave the Iron the lead, but Blair Adams equalised as the sides went into the break all-square.
However, second-half goals from Filip Valencic, Jimmy Spencer and youth-team players Montel Gibson and Luther Wildin secured the win.
Final Third Development League Cup - South Group A
Another eight-goal thriller in the Cup saw Southend United edge out AFC Wimbledon 5-3, with all the goals coming in a crazy second period.
Stephen McLaughlin, Nico Cotton and a Jason Williams brace put the Shrimpers 4-0 to the good, but the Dons gave themselves hope through Christian Toonga, Jayden Antwi and Reece Batchelor, before an own goal put paid to their hopes of an astonishing comeback.
Final Third Development League Cup - South Group B
Swindon Town picked up a second successive Cup triumph away at Bristol Rovers, and it was Jordan Stewart who grabbed the game's solitary goal in a 1-0 win for the Robins.
