Final Third Development League Digest 7

22 October 2015

Three games took place this week, two in the Final Third Development League, and one in the Cup, with wins for Grimsby Town, Walsall and Burnley.

Final Third Development League - East Division

An experienced Grimsby side cruised to a 3-0 victory over Rotherham United on Wednesday afternoon to pick up their first points of the campaign.

Jack Mackreth put the Mariners in front, and they pulled away in the second half courtesy of a deflected effort from Marcus Marshall and a second for Mackreth.

Final Third Development League - West Division

Walsall edged out Wrexham 1-0 in the West Division in a hard-fought contest in Wales.

A tight first half ended goalless, but Jordan Sangha's goal on the hour was enough to ensure victory for the travelling Saddlers.

Final Third Development League Cup - North Group A

Burnley produced a superb second-half display to ease to a 4-1 success at Bradford City, with Kevin Long completing another 90 minutes in his comeback from injury.

It was 0-0 at the break, but Jamie Frost broke the deadlock after an hour, and the advantage was doubled by an own goal.

Khius Metz was introduced to the fray with 20 minutes remaining and he added two more for the Clarets, either side of a Dylan Mottley-Henry consolation goal for Bradford.
