Sheffield Wednesday recorded the result of Round 4 of the Capital One Cup, upsetting more top-flight opposition with a 3-0 win over Arsenal.
After knocking out Premier League side Newcastle United in Round 3, Carlos Carvalhal's troops were at it again at Hillsborough. Ross Wallace and Lucas Joao did the damage in the first half, and Sam Hutchinson added further gloss to the scoreline.The Owls were the only team through in 90 minutes on Tuesday, with the other three ties all being settled by penalty shoot-outs.
Hull City against Leicester City, Stoke City versus Chelsea and Everton's tie with Norwich City all finished 1-1 after extra-time, and the hosts of each fixture advanced.
The Tigers converted all five of their spot-kicks, taking advantage of Riyadh Mahrez's miss to go through. Jack Butland denied Eden Hazard from 12 yards to send the Potters into the Quarter-Finals at the expense of the current champions, while Nathan Redmond missed the crucial penalty to send the Toffees through.
On Wednesday, Manchester City saw off Crystal Palace 5-1 to advance to the Quarter-Finals, while Southampton notched a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa. Liverpool also ran out victors on the second night of Fourth Round action, beating Bournemouth 1-0 on Sky Sports thanks to a Nathaniel Clyne strike.
At Old Trafford, meanwhile, Middlesbrough upset the odds by beating Manchester United 3-1 on penalties after a goalless draw.
