Cambridge United and Bristol Rovers to meet for the first time since 2005

30 October 2015

There's one Sky Bet League 2 game taking place under the floodlights on Friday, as Cambridge United and Bristol Rovers meet at the R Costings Abbey Stadium.

The match gets under way at 7.45pm, and it will be the first time the pair have locked horns in more than 10 years - since January 2005.

That clash finished 1-1, with Rovers' Junior Agogo and Cambridge's Shane Tudor getting on the scoresheet, and it was the latest in a strong run for the U's against their west country counterparts.

They renew acquaintances on Friday with Cambridge having gone unbeaten in four in the fixture, and you have to go back a further two years - to 2003 - for the last time Rovers prevailed.

At present, the two are neck-and-neck in Sky Bet League 2 with 20 points apiece - with Rovers one place above Richard Money's men in 13th, courtesy of a stronger goal difference.

Both clubs were involved in high-scoring games last weekend, as Cambridge beat Yeovil Town 3-2 and Rovers fell 4-1 at the hands of Newport County, and a win for either tonight will elevate them into the top 10.
