Bristol City see off Nottingham Forest for first home win of the season

16 October 2015

Aaron Wilbraham struck a first-half double to ease Bristol City to a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest for their first home win of the season.

The striker found the net twice in the opening 11 minutes to give Steve Cotterill’s men a dream start in what was the manager’s 100th game in charge of the club, and they never looked back.

The first was a deflected effort at the back post, after the striker had collected a cross from debutant Elliot Bennett, while his second was a header from a Derrick Williams centre.

Forest rarely threatened and if it wasn’t for the reflexes of goalkeeper Dorus de Vries, who made an incredible double save in the second half, Wilbraham would’ve had a hat-trick.

The result lifted Bristol City off the bottom of the Sky Bet Championship table, ahead of the rest of the weekend’s action.
