Blackpool aiming for four in a row for the first time since 2009/10

16 October 2015

Blackpool travel to Coventry City this weekend on the back of successive victories in Sky Bet League 1, and a winning run has been a long time coming.

Three-point hauls against Chesterfield against Swindon Town, both without conceding, have lifted the Tangerines up to 22nd in the table, and another success at the Ricoh Arena could take Neil McDonald's men out of the relegation zone.

To add to their league success, Blackpool picked up a third consecutive win with a 2-1 triumph at Port Vale in their recent Johnstone's Paint Trophy meeting - so just how long has it been since the club experienced such a run of victories?

It was back in the early stages of the 2013/14 Sky Bet Championship season when Blackpool last picked up back-to-back wins, and it was three in a row with Reading, Watford and Bournemouth all being beaten by a one-goal margin.

In 2012/13, it was a similar story as the Tangerines made another quick start to the Championship campaign. Three points at Millwall were followed up by a 2-1 win over Leeds United and a 6-0 rout of Ipswich Town.

But as for four wins in a row, you have to go all the way back to Blackpool's promotion-winning campaign of 2009/10. The Tangerines were rampant towards the end of the season, and they scored a combined 13 goals in victories over Swansea City, Plymouth Argyle, Scunthorpe United and Doncaster Rovers.
