Steven Pressley praises 'perfect' Fleetwood Town after Swindon Town rout

23 November 2015

Fleetwood Town manager Steven Pressley hailed his Fleetwood Town players after they put Swindon Town to the sword on Saturday afternoon.

The Cod Army were in Sky Bet League 1's bottom four at the start of play, but a rousing display from Pressley's men saw them leapfrog Swindon and move up to 19th in the table.

And the Scot was delighted with his team, who carried out the manager's plan to perfection.

“You can work on things on the training ground but when the players go out onto the pitch they need to carry out the game plan," Pressley told the club's official website.

“They carried it out perfectly and deserve great, great credit for that."

An Adam El-Abd own goal set Fleetwood on their way, before Antoni Sarcevic, David Henen and Tarique Fosu-Henry extended the advantage.

Nicky Ajose headed a consolation for the Robins but Bobby Grant put the icing on the cake, making it 5-1 to the Cod Army with a sublime strike.

“The performance was a performance over the course of the 90 minutes because we played with such intensity and such purpose.

“I know the game ended 5-1 but the reality was it could have been nine or 10. It was an outstanding result and an outstanding performance from us."
