Sky Bet League 2: Matchday 20 review

28 November 2015

We have new leaders in Sky Bet League 2, with Oxford United hitting the summit on a dramatic day of action.

Plymouth Argyle went into the day top of the pile, but it was Oxford who ended it there courtesy of a 1-0 win at Hartlepool United.

The Pilgrims looked like slipping to third, but a stoppage-time goal from Ryan Brunt rescued a draw at Dagenham & Redbridge. That point keeps them above Northampton Town on goal difference - who also topped the division during the 90 minutes - they defeated bottom club Yeovil Town 2-0.

Accrington Stanley made it a week to forget for York City. Stanley defeated the Minstermen 5-1, adding to the 6-0 defeat they suffered to Portsmouth in midweek.

As for Pompey, they had to fight back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Wycombe, and there was also a comeback for Cambridge United who defeated Notts County 3-1 - a winning scoreline matched by Carlisle United and Mansfield Town.

Finally, a special mention for two hat-trick heroes. Chris Whelpdale netted three as Stevenage came out on top in a seven-goal thriller against Morecambe, and debutant Oliver McBurnie came off the bench to net all of Newport County's goals in a 3-0 win over Luton Town.
