Plymouth Argyle's lead at the top of the Sky Bet League 2 table was cut after they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Exeter City in the Devon Derby.
Two first-half goals from Ryan Harley set the Grecians on their way to victory at a sold-out Home Park, meaning Oscar Threlkeld's strike for Plymouth acted as a mere consolation. The Pilgrims now hold a two-point advantage at the summit, after Oxford United, Northampton Town and Accrington Stanley - in the positions behind them - all recorded three points.
Oxford needed just the single goal to get past bottom club Dagenham & Redbridge, while Northampton won 2-1 away at Notts County and Accrinngton beat Cambridge United 3-2.
Just below that crop, Portsmouth squandered a late lead to draw 2-2 at Carlisle United, Mansfield Town eased to a 3-1 triumph against Hartlepool United and Leyton Orient survived a late scare to prevail 3-2 at home to York City.
Elsewhere, two Rhys Murphy goals inside the opening 10 minutes saw Crawley Town to a 2-1 victory against Bristol Rovers.
