Sky Bet League 2: Matchday 17 preview

13 November 2015

Sky Bet League 2 returns after a two-week break with eight games taking place on Saturday, before a back-to-back billing of live matches on Sunday.

There will be some new faces in and around the dugout too, as Jackie McNamara takes charge of a struggling York City for the first time in The League, and Shaun Derry takes the reigns at Cambridge United ahead of their meeting with Oxford United.

Here are all the Sky Bet League 2 weekend fixtures at a glance (kick-off is 3pm unless stated):

Saturday 14th November

Accrington Stanley v Newport County
Bristol Rovers v Carlisle United
Exeter City v Crawley Town
Luton Town v Barnet
Northampton Town v Mansfield Town
Oxford United v Cambridge United
Yeovil Town v Stevenage
York City v Plymouth Argyle

Sunday 15th November

Hartlepool United v Leyton Orient (12.15pm - live on Sky Sports)
Portsmouth V AFC Wimbledon (2.30pm - live on Sky Sports)

Oxford against Cambridge is the headline act in the 3pm kick-offs, with Shaun Derry entering the fray at the deep end with his new club.

He takes his U's side to the Kassam Stadium lying 18th in the table, while their rivals are 10 points further up, in second place.

Leaders Plymouth take a trip to York City for Jackie McNamara's maiden Sky Bet League 2 outing, and the Pilgrims remain in a rich vein of form with just one loss in their last 10 league games. They also gave Millwall a fright on Tuesday evening in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, battling gallantly in a 5-3 defeat.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Northampton Town can make it five wins from their last seven league games when they face Mansfield. The Cobblers sit two points above the Stags in fifth, and can rise as high as second should other results fall in their favour.

At the foot of the table, Yeovil Town are in desperate need of a win, despite picking up two Cup victories in the last seven days. They've only claimed the spoils in two of their 16 outings so far this season, and are up against a side in and around them in the standings, in Stevenage.

Bristol Rovers versus Carlisle United, Luton Town against Barnet and Crawley Town's visit to Exeter City completes the Saturday line-up.

On Sunday, there are two games being screened live on Sky Sports, with 19th-placed Hartlepool Untied hosting Leyton Orient at lunchtime. The Pools have hit a bump in the road of late, with form staggering after six losses in their last 10, while Orient are one of three sides on 26 points, in seventh.

Immediately after, Portsmouth welcome AFC Wimbledon to Fratton Park for a second helping of live action, and they do so without a win in nearly a month. They've drawn two and suffered one defeat in their last three, while the travelling Dons are currently the division's in-form team, having put a run of three straight wins together.
