Sky Bet League 1: Matchday 17 preview

13 November 2015

After a fortnight's break, Sky Bet League 1 is back in business this weekend with 10 games taking place on Saturday.

It remains tightly poised at both ends of the table, with five points covering the top six, and just four from 17th to 24th.

Here are Saturday's Sky Bet League 1 fixtures in full (kick-off is 3pm unless stated):

Saturday 14th November

Barnsley v Port Vale
Blackpool v Doncaster Rovers
Bradford City v Crewe Alexandra
Chesterfield v Oldham Athletic
Colchester United v Coventry City
Gillingham v Bury
Peterborough United v Fleetwood Town
Rochdale v Wigan Athletic (12.30pm - live on Sky Sports)
Sheffield United v Southend United
Swindon Town v Scunthorpe United

With leaders Walsall and second-placed Burton Albion out of action over the international period, Gillingham and Coventry City have the chance to pounce and go top of Sky Bet League 1.

Both clubs are locked on 31 points apiece, one behind the Saddlers and the Brewers. Gillingham face a tough test against sixth-placed Bury, who got back to winning ways after four games without victory last time out, and Coventry are on the road to a Colchester United side who've amassed just one triumph in their last six outings.

The day's action kicks off at Spotland, where Rochdale and Wigan Athletic lock horns in a local rivalry live on Sky Sports. The visiting Latics are flying high in the division thanks to just one defeat in their last 10 league matches, but Dale have fallen off the pace of late with no wins in six and four consecutive draws.

Sheffield United are looking to avoid three straight defeats, and they welcome close challengers Southend United to Bramall Lane. The pair are separated in the table by four places, but only one point.

Crewe Alexandra and Swindon Town are at the foot of the table and play top-half opposition in the form of Bradford City and Scunthorpe United respectively, while fellow strugglers Barnsley – who had lost eight straight games in all competitions up until their midweek Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over York City - are at home to Port Vale.
