Sky Bet Championship: Matchday 18 review

28 November 2015

Brighton and Hove Albion reclaimed top spot in the Sky Bet Championship after beating Birmingham City 2-1 and extending their unbeaten streak to 18 games.

The Seagulls took the lead through Solly March before Jon Toral equalised for the Blues, setting the stage for Bobby Zamora to score the winner early in the second half.

They moved to the summit at the expense of Derby County, who had gone first courtesy of a Friday night triumph over Hull City.

Saturday's action got under way at the Valley, where Ipswich comfortably beat Charlton Athletic 3-0, thanks to goals from Freddie Sears and a double from Daryl Murphy.

Like Charlton, fellow Championship strugglers MK Dons and Huddersfield also failed to get a win. The Dons drew 0-0 away at Wolverhampton Wanderers, while David Wagner's side went down 2-0 to Middlesbrough – who climbed to second as a result.

Rotherham secured a 3-0 win over Bristol City, with Jonson Clarke-Harris getting a double before Lee Frecklington got their third.

Elsewhere, both Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday came from behind to secure a point. The Clarets came from 2-0 down to secure a dramatic late draw with Cardiff City, whereas the Owls twice came from a goal down to share the spoils with Blackburn Rovers.

Charlie Austin scored the only goal in QPR's 1-0 win over Leeds United, and managerless Fulham managed a 1-1 draw against Preston North End, with Ross McCormack scoring a free-kick late on to equalise.
