Morecambe striker Shaun Miller has been named the Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month for October.
Intent on making up for time lost to injury, the former Crewe trainee’s lob against Bristol Rovers was his first goal in nearly a year. Highlighted by a 30-yard dipping volley in the 5-2 win at AFC Wimbledon, he scored six in five October games alone.Morecambe manager Jim Bentley said: “Shaun has been in great form throughout the month of October. His professionalism and attitude towards his job have been first class since he arrived at the club and his performances have been excellent.
“We felt once he got a goal to match these performances that he would go on and do what he does best, score goals.
“He got his first goal for the club at the start of October and continued to score another five league goals during the month which is a fantastic achievement and I'm sure there will be more to follow.”
Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Six goals in five October games speak for themselves, and Miller is the clear front-runner for this award in League 2 this month.
“He has had a difficult few years, and the praise that he is getting now is a just reward for the hard work he has undoubtedly put in.”
Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “Six league goals for Miller in October helped Morecambe to three wins from six games, putting them three points away from the top seven."
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Manager of the Month is chaired by former Ipswich Town manager George Burley, along with Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
