Ryan Lowe returns! Crewe Alexandra re-sign former striker

23 November 2015

Bury striker Ryan Lowe has re-joined Crewe Alexandra on loan until January 5th 2016, six years after leaving the club.

The 37-year-old returns to Crewe, having spent two years at Gresty Road between 2006 and 2008, making 74 appearances and scoring 17 goals.

The Alex find themselves bottom of Sky Bet League 1 and in desperate need of goals, only scoring 15 so far this season – the lowest tally in the division alongside Blackpool and Doncaster Rovers.

Thanks for all the messages from #bfc fans and the welcome messages from @crewealexfc fans looking forward to task ahead 👍 #letsdothis ⚽️x

The striker played 38 times for Bury last term, scoring 11 times, but an injury in the early part of this season restricted him to just one appearance for the Shakers.

Lowe will join up with his new side in time for their Sky Bet League 1 fixture with Colchester United on Tuesday night, and Bury boss David Flitcroft is hopeful that the front man will help Crewe to get back amongst the goals.

“This loan will give Ryan an ideal opportunity to find match fitness. Crewe will benefit from adding an excellent striker to their squad and someone who will add experience to Steve Davis young Crewe squad,” he told buryfc.co.uk.

“Ryan has had limited opportunity due to his injury and the fine form of our strikers and the emergence of Anthony Dudley has allowed us to give him this opportunity.

“We also hope Ryan will still aid us with his goal scoring exploits against teams around us in this division.”
