Ronnie Moore was a happy man after Hartlepool United defeated Leyton Orient 3-1 on Sunday afternoon, with the manager much preferring this game to his last TV appearance!Moore quipped to the club's official website: “Last time I managed live on the telly we got beat 5-0 and I got the sack – hopefully I’ve got a bit more breathing space this time!”
Orient started brightly and took the lead through Bradley Pritchard, but two goals from Jake Gray sealed the three points after Kudus Oyenuga had equalised from the spot - a goal that Moore couldn't bring himself to watch.
“The penalty was a bit of a turning point; I didn’t watch it, I turned my back if I am being honest, but it was nice when it went in," Moore added.
"In the second half we showed character to come back and play, and I think if that third goal had been scored in the Premier League then they’d be talking about it for a while – it was a wonderful ball and what a great finish.
“At 2-1 we knew Orient would come at us but when they threw caution to the wind we kept the ball better and killed them – that’s what good sides do and it’s what happened for us today."
