Live on Sky Sports: Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka expecting 'good test' against QPR

20 November 2015

The Football League weekend kicks off with Middlesbrough against Queens Park Rangers live on Sky Sports on Friday night, and Boro boss Aitor Karanka is anticipating a tough test.

Karanka's side are fourth in the table but endured the international break after losing to leaders Hull City 3-0. Rangers, meanwhile, are down in 13th having won only two of their last 11 games.

But the Teessiders' manager isn't taking anything for granted ahead of the 7.45pm kick-off, and expects the R's, who are now under the guidance of Neil Warnock after Chris Ramsey's recent departure, to improve.

“It’s another good test, especially because they were in the Premier League last season and I’m sure that they’re better than how they’re playing at the moment,” Karanka said to mfc.co.uk.

“They have good players and right now they have an experienced manager. They will have had two weeks to work on the pitch and I’m sure it’s going to be really difficult.

“But we have also had two weeks to work here with the players so I hope we have a good reaction after our defeat at Hull.”

Leroy Fer determined to upset the odds

QPR midfielder Leroy Fer believes Middlesbrough are the favourites for Friday night's clash, but insists he and his team-mates are travelling north to claim a win.

"Middlesbrough have started the season well; very well,” Fer told qpr.co.uk.

"They're higher in the league that we are at the moment and they play at home on Friday, so they'll be favourites.

"They're a very strong team, who reached the Play-Offs last season, but we are a strong team as well and we will be going there to try and win the game.”
