Joe Cole capped off his home debut in style with a stunning free-kick against Barnsley, and he has spoken of his delight at getting on the scoresheet.
It proved to be the winner for the Sky Blues in their 4-3 midweek success against the Tykes and it was a result that lifted them to within a point of Sky Bet League 1 leaders Walsall.Read more: Bradford City and Coventry City taste success in Sky Bet League 1
Cole reflected on the goal after the match, and highlighted the fact that he hasn't been able to be on free-kick responsibilities often in his career.
"It was nice!" Cole said of finding the net, to ccfc.co.uk.
"I've played with many great free-kick takers like David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. I've not taken too many in my career! I could say to the lads tonight I was taking it, I couldn't back then with those great free-kick takers.
"It's a great stadium to play in and I'm delighted to be here. I think it shows that we should be higher in the leagues. It's up to us players, management and staff to put the club in a higher position particularly with the facilities and the city.
"But most importantly we got the three points against a side that probably shouldn't be where they are."
Adam Armstrong was alongside Cole on the scoresheet for the Sky Blues against Barnsley, with the Newcastle United loanee scoring his second successive brace.
He now has 12 in 14 for the season, and 33-year-old Cole heaped praise on the youngster.
"I've come here to help the team and I'm excited to play with young players and help them develop on and off the pitch.
"Armstrong reminds me of Aguero in a way, he's of the build and he's hungry for goals. In a lovely way he's selfish for goals and has the ingredients to be a top player and go on to score many more goals.”
