Derek Adams named Sky Bet League 2 Manager of the Month

6 November 2015

Plymouth Argyle boss Derek Adams has been named the Sky Bet League 2 Manager of the Month for October.

Life managing in England could not have begun much better for the Scot. Fifteen points from six games in the month lifted Argyle five points clear of their rivals as they built on the strong defensive foundation laid by Adams.

The manager said: "It's fantastic for the football club and it's a very nice award to get at this stage of the season. We have performed well in October and are happy with the progress we making.

"I have a very good backroom staff in Craig Brewster and Paul Wotton, who I enjoy working with, as well as the rest of the staff at the football club and the players. We have a great team spirit."

George Burley, who chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel, said: “Derek has found his feet in the Sky Bet Football League, taking Plymouth to the top of League 2.

“They have won five games gaining 15 points this month. He had a very successful spell in Scotland with Ross County and will be hoping to keep Plymouth up at the top this season.”

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “In the month that Plymouth rose to the top of the table with five wins from six, Adams’ quality shone through.

“He has shored up the defence and used the steady base as a platform to get the job done.”

Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “Argyle’s good start continued in October with Adams’ side picking up five wins from six games, making it 11 wins from 16 in his debut season managing in England."

The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Ipswich Town boss George Burley, Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
