Away victors have eyes on the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Team of the Round prize

25 November 2015

Three away winners from the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Area Quarter-Finals will battle it out for the Team of the Round award.

Millwall, Yeovil Town and Morecambe have been shortlisted for the honour after moving to within three matches of Wembley with excellent victories on their travels in Johnstone’s Paint’s 10th season of sponsoring The Football League Trophy.

The winning team is set to be selected by a panel of judges over the coming days and will receive a supply of Johnstone’s Paint to utilise on a club project, as well as a trophy.

Millwall’s nomination came on the back of an eight-goal thriller at Sky Bet League 2 leaders Plymouth Argyle. A Lee Gregory hat-trick paved the way for a 5-3 triumph for the Lions, with Mark Beevers and Aiden O’Brien also on target for the visitors.

Yeovil pulled off an upset as they went through on penalties against Sky Bet League 1 high-flyers Gillingham. The tie had finished 1-1 after 90 minutes with Harry Cornick grabbing the Yeovil goal.

Morecambe were another team to win on the road against higher-ranked opposition - Paul Mullin’s first-half strike enough to seal a 1-0 triumph at Rochdale.

Richard Mazurkiewicz, marketing manager for Johnstone’s Trade, said: “The standard of performances in the Area Quarter-Finals was excellent and teams are setting their sights on reaching Wembley.

“Millwall, Yeovil and Morecambe all produced results worthy of winning the Team of the Round award and the judges will have a very difficult decision deciding on one winner.”

Johnstone’s Paint has been bringing colour to the beautiful game since it began sponsoring The Football League Trophy in 2006.
