Wycombe Wanderers survive Plymouth Argyle late show in Sky Bet League 2 Play-Off semi-final first leg

9 May 2015

Wycombe Wanderers claimed a 3-2 win over Plymouth Argyle at Home Park, but two late goals from the hosts mean the tie is still wide open.

The Chairboys seized the initiative from the get-go as Paul Hayes saw them take the a lead inside 10 minutes. Aaron Holloway then doubled their advantage just 12 minutes later with a smartly taken half-volley from the edge of the penalty area.

It was more of the same in the second half and, as the Plymouth defence switched off momentarily, Steven Craig looked to have put Wycombe out of sight when he made it 3-0.

The atmosphere began to dampen on the south coast but Zak Ansah’s 25-yard strike found the net and sparked life into Argyle. Jason Banton also saw his curled effort creep in at the far post to reduce the deficit to just one goal ahead of the return leg next Thursday.
