Sheffield United and Chesterfield have already secured their places in the Sky Bet League 1 Play-Offs, but the pair go head-to-head this weekend to finalise their top-six positions.
Chesterfield make the short 10-mile journey to Bramall Lane sitting sixth, just two points behind Sheffield United, so the Sunday lunchtime clash still has plenty riding on it.With Preston North End and Milton Keynes Dons in such fantastic form, no side will want to face them in the Play-Off Semi-Finals, so landing in that fifth spot could prove crucial in the bid to reach Wembley, and ultimately the Sky Bet Championship.
Paul Cook has taken his side on a fantastic run to the Play-Offs. Until their recent defeat to Bristol City, the Spireites had gone seven unbeaten - winning five of those - to leave the chasing pack trailing in their wake.
And Chesterfield will fancy their chances against the Blades, who have gone four games without victory including a loss to basement side Yeovil Town. Nigel Clough's men were also defeated by Chesterfield in October's reverse meeting, losing 3-2 in a feisty affair at the Proact Stadium.
Each side had a player dismissed that day, and Chesterfield were three goals to the good before United put up a late comeback – and goals are usually the norm when these two teams come up against each other.
Out of the last eight meetings, seven have produced goals for both sides, and there has been 30 netted in that period going back to the 1982/83 season. There was a rare 1-0 win among those results, and that came in 2011 when the Blades triumphed 1-0 on the road.
To add to the bragging rights, the pair are level in the head-to-head over 25 meetings in all competitions, with 11 wins each and three draws since they first clashed in 1936/37.
