Sheffield United “ready to go” in Sky Bet League 1 Play-Offs - Jamie Murphy

7 May 2015

Sheffield United's Jamie Murphy says his side are “ready to go” ahead of their Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off semi-final with Swindon Town.

The Blades finished fifth in Sky Bet League 1 earning them a first-leg tie against the Robins at Bramall Lane, which will be shown live on Sky Sports tonight (7.45pm kick-off).

And Murphy, who had a successful evening at United's awards dinner, is feeling fresh ahead of the clash after manager Nigel Clough rested some of his players towards the end of the regular season.

“It was good to get that rest at the weekend and hopefully have a bit of extra energy for this week,” Murphy said, speaking to Blades Player.

“I'm sure all the boys will say the same, the gaffer's done well rotating the squad. There's no point playing everybody in every game if they're not really going to mean anything.

The Scottish winger, who was named the Sheffield United Player of the Year last weekend, added that the team were looking forward to it after all but securing a place in the end-of-season showdown in April.

With fifth place looking likely for some time, Nigel Clough's side embarked on a run of five matches without picking up a win to conclude their campaign - an unwanted streak which they share with tonight's opponents.

“We're looking forward to it, we've been looking forward to it for the past month or so,” Murphy added.

“That's how the form goes up and down a little bit because obviously we're thinking about the Play-Offs, but I'm sure we'll get the best out of us - they're big games and we're ready to go."
