Preston North End's Joe Garner looking to put things right in the Play-Offs

7 May 2015

Joe Garner says he and his Preston North End team-mates are looking to put things right in the Sky Bet League 1 Play-Offs.

The Lilywhites lost to Colchester United on the final day to miss out on automatic promotion to the Sky Bet Championship, and they now face Chesterfield over two legs for another shot at promotion, under the arch at Wembley.

Ahead of Tuesday's first leg at the Proact Stadium, which will kick-off at 7.45pm live on Sky Sports, Garner told the club's official website: "The games come quick, with Thursday night so soon and there's only us who can put it right and get promotion.

"Sunday was tough, it didn't go to plan or how we wanted it to but we have to move on and we go into the game Thursday confident that we've lost one game in 19 and we will be ready for Chesterfield.”

This will be Preston's 10th Play-Off campaign in history and they are yet to taste success, losing six semi-finals and three finals.

Last term they were on the end of 4-2 aggregate defeat to Rotherham United in the semi-finals but Garner, who scored what turned out to be the Mitre Goal of the Year in the first leg against the Millers last year, believes Preston are ready for the challenge ahead.

"The Play-Offs will be tough, we know that they will be tough but we will be ready. We will go there confident that we can get a result like we've done already this year.

"The lads have been hurting, I think it's only normal that it's like that but we are the ones who can put it right and we will go out there on Thursday and give it our all to hopefully get a lead to come back to Deepdale with and hopefully get the job done at Wembley."
