Middlesbrough stars insist there is still work to be done

18 May 2015

Middlesbrough midfielders Grant Leadbitter and Albert Adomah know that the job is far from done after they progressed past Brentford in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs.

Boro held a 2-1 advantage going into Friday night's second leg at the Riverside Stadium, and the hosts blew Brentford away with a commanding performance and a 3-0 win.

Albert Adomah rounded off the triumph with a fine goal and the winger, who also provided Lee Tomlin for the opener, can't wait for the Final at Wembley on Bank Holiday Monday.

“It’s a great experience to play at Wembley because I’ve never done it and all the lads can’t wait,” Adomah told the club's official website.

“The win was down to everyone on the pitch. Everyone defended and attacked well.

“But the job isn’t done yet, we’ve still got to go to Wembley and perform.”

Those sentiments are echoed by midfield general Grant Leadbitter, and Boro's skipper was delighted with how his side handled the expectations against the Bees.

“There was a lot of pressure on us to win on Friday. Brentford came to the Riverside with nothing to lose but we performed on the night.

“I think the stepping stone was that we came away with the result we wanted from the first leg, but on Friday we outclassed Brentford and were really good.

“In the final we know we have to perform. The job isn’t done. We have to win promotion yet to have had a good season.”
