Mark Warburton is urging his Brentford side to go and play with confidence in their Sky Bet Championship play-off second leg at Middlesbrough.
The Bees go into the fixture trailing 2-1 after a last-gasp defeat at Griffin Park a week ago, and the match will be shown live on Sky Sports 1, in a 7.45pm kick-off.Warburton wants his side to show plenty of positivity as they look to turn the tie on its head, against a Middlesbrough outfit who boast the best home form in the division this season.
“The fact is that we have to go there, be positive, dominate the football and score goals,” said Warburton, speaking to the club's official website.
“It’s a tough place to go, they are an excellent team, well organised; we know that – so are we.
“They are a physically imposing team; they have height and physicality.
“We have technically gifted players who are comfortable in possession who want the ball all the time and you don’t always get six foot three players doing that; it’s about maximising what you’ve got.”
Brentford were beaten on their most recent visit to the Riverside Stadium, losing 4-0 earlier in the season, and the Bees boss is using that game to fire up his men as they look to reach Wembley and achieve the ultimate goal – promotion to the Premier League.
“It is a game we’ve used time and time again. On that day our standards dropped and we got punished - if you don’t maintain your levels, then you’ll get hurt in this division.
“I’m not worried about Middlesbrough in terms of how they are going to prepare, we just have to prepare well and hope we do things right, that’s all we can do.”
