Preston North End striker Jermaine Beckford has been named the Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month for April.Beckford is enjoying his football again, as demonstrated by five important goals in the month.
He has formed a brilliant partnership with Joe Garner, and is once more displaying his finishing prowess under pressure.
Preston manager Simon Grayson said: “Jermaine can finish goals and has scored them at the highest level. He works extremely hard for the team and I’m delighted for him that he has won this award.”
Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Jermaine Beckford has hit top form at exactly the right time for Preston North End.
“His five April goals have put the Lilywhites in prime position to be promoted to the Sky Bet Championship.”
Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “Five years ago Simon Grayson’s Leeds United side gained automatic promotion from League 1 with Jermaine Beckford scoring vital goals to fire them up the league.
“The two are now reunited at Preston and Beckford has been rolling back the years to give us a strong sense of déjà vu, scoring five goals this month that will be crucial if they make it over the line and achieve promotion to the Championship this year.”
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
