Chesterfield's Dan Jones looking forward to Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off campaign

7 May 2015

Chesterfield left-back Dan Jones can't wait for the Sky Bet League 1 Play-Offs to get under way as the Spireites eye a second successive promotion.

Paul Cook's side won Sky Bet League 2 last season and they have proved their credentials again this time around, taking sixth spot in League 1 to secure their place in the Play-Offs, and Jones believes they can go all the way again.

“We've got big-game players and I think certain players do rise to the bar when these games come around,” Jones told the club's official website.

"We aren't actually fussed about playing anyone, I think teams will rather not play us because of the way we play; we play football but we can be direct as well. Teams will fear us more than we fear them.”

The Spireites face off against Preston North End, who finished third, live on Sky Sports when the Play-Offs begin tonight.

Both sides are on fine form going into the tie – the Lilywhites had gone 18 games unbeaten until the loss to Colchester United on the final day, and Chesterfield lost just once in nine as they put together the run which secured their top-six finish.

"I really am looking forward to it, I can't wait,” the 28-year-old added.

“We're solid throughout so it will be an enjoyable game and anything can happen when you get into the Play-Offs.

"Preston have a good attack, but we're good at the back. We've got good experience and we've got pace on either side so we'll play our game, be patient and try and open them up.”
