“We came here with a game plan and we stuck to it" - Keith Curle on Carlisle United's win at Northampton Town

18 March 2015

Carlisle United boss Keith Curle says his side stuck to their game plan at Northampton Town, and it paid dividends as they recorded an impressive 2-0 success.

Second-half goals from Jason Kennedy and Kyle Dempsey earned the Cumbrians all three points at Sixfields and the result moved them three clear of the Sky Bet League 2 relegation zone.

“We came here with a game plan and we stuck to it,” he told the club's official website. “We got that little bit of luck you need, at times, but we kept our belief and we got our rewards.

“The message at half time was to have even more belief. We didn’t retain possession of the ball anywhere near as well as we can in the first half. I see these lads in training and I know the ability they have.

“We kept our shape well after the break and we were disciplined in the way we played. The important thing was it was a win for the whole squad. I’m sure eyes were raised at team selection, formation and tactics.

“I’m sure people will have wondered if it was defensive, but I have a good understanding and belief in what is in the changing room. The right thing to do is to use it as and when I need it.”
