Ronnie Henry says he wants Stevenage to show confidence when they take on Burton Albion in another pivotal Sky Bet League 2 fixture on Monday.
Henry and his team-mates currently sit ninth in the table ahead of their game in hand against the Brewers, three points off the Play-Off places with eight games remaining.Captain Henry insists Stevenage will be ready to pounce if table-toppers Burton are below par at the Pirelli Stadium, and wants them to give everything to achieve a top-seven spot in the remaining weeks.
“We have been preparing right in training, the lads are still upbeat and they know we have got a long way to go," Henry told Stevenage's official website.
“We need to be hungry. We need to be hungrier than the other team and we need to show our quality and confidence that we know we have got, because when we play well as a side we are good to watch and we are effective in the way we play.
“It is up to us. We either go on holiday early or we carry on and achieve something together. I am sure all of them in there want to be playing in League 1 next year to have a shot at that – I certainly do. When I left the club it was in League 1 and I want to get back there.
“I know what it is like to go up through the Play-Offs, I know what it is like to win the league – it is a great achievement and something I really want again. I will be trying to tell the lads in there, I am sure they know – that they want success early in their careers because it can only help you as you get older.”
Victory tonight would see Stevenage draw level with Plymouth Argyle in seventh place in League 2, while a home win for Burton would open their lead at the top back to five points.
