Simon Grayson believes spirit could be the key as Preston North End chase Sky Bet League 1 promotion

17 March 2015

Preston North End manager Simon Grayson believes that the team spirit of his squad will be crucial in their quest for promotion from Sky Bet League 1.

Grayson has guided his side to seven wins and a draw from their last eight fixtures, with a vital win at Milton Keynes Dons followed by a 5-1 rout of Crewe Alexandra at the weekend.

"I think it's been a real thing about the club since I've been here, the group of players that we inherited to a certain degree, but also the ones we've brought in, have always liked to have a good spirit and a good dressing room,” Grayson said, speaking to the club's official website.

The Lilywhites' remaining fixtures in March all come against teams in or around the Play-Off places, starting this evening when they welcome seventh-placed Peterborough United to Deepdale.

"You do see them all celebrating and trying to achieve the goal that they all set out at the start of pre-season. Some are disappointed when they're not playing, but they've all contributed and they've all played a part and will play a part over the next few weeks.

“Hopefully that togetherness can really galvanise us and keep us going.”

We'll have updates from Deepdale, and around the grounds in Sky Bet League 1, on the division's official Twitter feed this evening - @SkyBetLeague1.
