Shrewsbury Town's Micky Mellon looking for response against Morecambe

17 March 2015

Shrewsbury Town boss Micky Mellon wants his side to bounce back from their defeat at Wycombe Wanderers when they host Morecambe on Tuesday evening.

Mellon's men have won just one of their last five outings, which has seen them fall five points behind leaders Burton Albion at the top of Sky Bet League 2, while the defeat at Adams Park saw them drop down to third.

“I was disappointed with the tempo and our competitive spirit in that first half [at Wycombe]," the manager told the club's official website.

“We spoke about that and we are trying to make sure we learn as much as we can at this stage of the season.

“It’s that time in the season with 10 games to go where every victory now will be massive. But I believe in the lads, I trust them and I know what they are capable of.

"When they fall below their standards, it’s my job that they are told that in the right way to make sure we keep taking this terrific football club forward and keep this project moving forward.

“We are in a terrific position, there is no doubt about that, but we need to make sure we keep our standards high and keep doing the basics right."
