Justin Edinburgh wants instant response to first Gillingham defeat

3 March 2015

Gillingham manager Justin Edinburgh has said wants am immediate reaction from his players following their 1-0 defeat to Barnsley at the weekend.

The Gills travel to high-flying Swindon Town on Tuesday having lost for the first time under Edinburgh, who joined from Newport County in early February.

Edinburgh felt his side were deserving of a point on Saturday, but knows his side must respond instantly.

“After reviewing the DVD [against Barnsley] again I still believe we didn’t perhaps do enough to win the game but I didn’t think we deserved to lose it," he told Gillingham's official site.

“We didn’t particularly play well in possession of the ball and the conditions didn’t help.

“We need to make sure we don’t lose those games but the young players will learn from that and their game management will get better as time goes on.

“As a player you don’t want to dwell on it for too long and you want to get another game in your system and as a manager you’re looking for a reaction.

“Obviously it’s a difficult place to go but a very good game to play in. The pitch will be good and hopefully the wind will have died down and we go there with confidence."
