Ronnie Moore believes his Hartlepool United players can match anyone in Sky Bet League 2 if they maintain the standards from their weekend win at Morecambe.
Moore's men triumphed 1-0 at the Globe Arena, keeping a long-awaited away clean sheet, and now turn their attentions to a trip to Oxford United.Pools remain rooted to the foot of the division, six points from safety, but the boss believes his players have what it takes to get a result against the U's, who are riding a five-game unbeaten run.
“It was a fantastic performance on Saturday; every one of them who played shared in that success and did everything we asked of them.
“The clean sheet was a bonus because it gets that stat off our backs; we said before the game we wanted it to be like buses and two come along at once so let’s hope it can happen, even though we know it will be tough.
“They [Oxford] have had a good run of form and had four clean sheets in the last five games – but that doesn’t last forever and if we can perform like we did on Saturday I believe we’re a match for anyone at this level.
"At the end of the game on Saturday we all saw what the supporters were like and the feeling they had – we want more of that.
“It seems to happen every week that we give them some hope and then don’t deliver; that’s frustrating for the staff as well – so hopefully this time we can give them hope and deliver as well.”
