Gary Bowyer praises Blackburn Rovers' character after late triumph against Bolton Wanderers

12 March 2015

Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer praised his team’s character and desire after a dramatic late victory over Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday evening.

The game at Ewood Park was heading towards a goalless stalemate, until Jordan Rhodes popped up with a 94th-minute winner to hand them their second successive Sky Bet Championship victory.

"It was no more then we deserved," Bowyer told the club's official website. "I thought we were terrific today.

"The character, the desire, the attitude of the players was top class.”

After holding Liverpool to a 0-0 draw in the FA Cup on Sunday, Bowyer was delighted that his side managed to put in another big performance like the one at Anfield.

"Mentally was a big day for us on Sunday, so for them to come out and put a performance on like that is incredible from them.

"They rightly deserve all the praise again tonight; I thought they were terrific from start to finish.

"The players kept going and it is a fantastic goal to score.”
