With Coventry City, Crawley Town and Leyton Orient all picking up valuable points of late, more teams have been drawn into the Sky Bet League 1 relegation scrap.
While Yeovil Town are nine points adrift at the bottom, just six points separates Scunthorpe United in 17th from 23rd-placed Colchester United. And there’s a crucial clash in West Sussex on Saturday, with Orient (22nd – 39 points) making the trip to Crawley (21st – 40 points).
The hosts go into the game after a stunning week in which they have secured six points with two 3-2 away wins, at Colchester on Saturday and Port Vale on Tuesday.
That has lifted them to the highest relegation spot and just two points adrift of safety.
Orient sit immediately behind Crawley, one point further back after also enjoying a successful seven days. The O’s beat Yeovil 3-0 last weekend before a 0-0 draw at home to Barnsley in midweek.
Crawley have been in the bottom four since Boxing Day, when they lost 4-1 in the reverse fixture. The East Londoners, meanwhile, have been in the relegation zone for the past two months, but one of these sides could move above the safety line with a weekend win.
