Steve Clarke pleased to bolster Reading's attacking ranks with Orlando Sa

30 June 2015

Reading boss Steve Clarke believes that the signing of Orlando Sa improves his attacking options for the forthcoming campaign considerably.

Sa has joined the Sky Bet Championship outfit on three-year contract, and Clarke is looking forward to working with the striker, who has previous experience of English football having represented Fulham earlier in his career.

The 51-year-old manager says that the Portuguese international fills an important void in his squad, and Clarke is hoping that he will bring goals and power to the Royals’ frontline.

"The striking department was one area of the team that everyone agreed needed strengthening this season,” Clarke explained to the club’s official site.

“Obviously Orlando's goal record is really impressive but, for me, I was most impressed by his answer to my question about why he wanted to come to play for Reading in the Championship. Immediately he replied 'I want to play in the Premier League again and Reading can take me there'.

“He is motivated to prove that his previous spell in England with Fulham came too early in his career. He is a strong player who leads the line well and has an eye for a goal. I'm sure he will be a big asset to the squad this season."
