Richard Brindley looking to kick on at Colchester United

2 June 2015

Colchester United's summer shopping has started with the addition of Richard Brindley, and he is excited for a fresh start with his new club.

Brindley arrives at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on a free transfer from Rotherham United, but the full-back is already familiar with his new surroundings.

After being drafted in on loan by U's boss Tony Humes towards the climax of last season's Sky Bet League 1 campaign, Brindley made eight appearances for Colchester as they secured the points to guarantee survival.

Five wins and three draws from the last 10 games kept the Essex club in League 1, and the 22-year-old hopes the U's can carry that form into the 2015/16 for a more successful season.

"At the end of last season, it was a tough battle for the team, but a good experience for me, but now I start afresh and hopefully push on,” Brindley told the club's official website.

"I'm looking forward to next season and being a part of this club. I enjoyed my loan spell and hope to have the same sorts of results over the next couple of years.

"The lads are a really good bunch, and the staff and management have helped me massively. Being a part of this team is something I'm looking forward to.”
