Neil McDonald is pleased with the business that Blackpool have completed so far this summer. The Sky Bet League 1 outfit have been busy strengthening their squad, as they look to bounce straight back from relegation.
They have already brought in a number of players and McDonald believes the recruitment of goalkeepers Kyle Letheren and Colin Doyle will help both be on the top of their games.
"It’s going to be really good competition for both of them," McDonald told the club’s official site. "They’ve both got stature and they’re both really good shot stoppers, and they command the area very well. It will be good competition between them two to see who is going to be number one.
"That’s us all sorted now on the goalkeeping front, it’s now about trying to recruit the outfield players in different positions to try and bring the squad together."
One of the planned outfield additions McDonald has already made is that of Brad Potts from Carlisle United.
The young midfielder has impressed at Sky Bet League 2 level and the hope is that he can make the step-up with ease.
But McDonald realises that his work is not yet complete, and he is plotting to make more signings in the near future.
"I saw him [Potts] play this season against AFC Wimbledon and he actually scored that day and I was well impressed,” McDonald enthused.
"He's a young midfield player who has got lots and lots of promise. He’s got lots and lots of progress to do and I’m certainly going to help him with that on the training field.
"We’ve got a few irons in the fire and are trying to get answers. The response that I’ve had so far has been really good and we’re looking to bring in at least two this week.
"We still need to strengthen and we still need plenty of players so we'll be on the phone all the time, all the way until we come in on the 29th June.”.
