Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth is delighted that he has been able to convince Anthony Stewart to return to the club.Stewart left the Chairboys in the summer of 2014 after coming through their youth-ranks and went on to join Crewe Alexandra, but he has quickly returned to the Buckinghamshire-based outfit.
The 22-year-old has signed a two-year deal at Adams Park, and Ainsworth believes he will be an excellent addition to his side.
“Anthony is a tremendous talent and I’m delighted that he’s agreed to come back,” the manager, who guided Wycombe into the Sky Bet League 2 Play-Off Final last season, said to the club’s official site.
“We understood his reasons for leaving the club and we did our best to keep him here. However, this is a fresh start for both Anthony and for us, and I’m confident that he can pick up where he left off as an excellent young player with real potential to develop.
“He’s got pace, he’s a threat in the opposition box and he can play in a number of positions. I’ve no doubt he’ll be a great addition to the side.”
