Portsmouth new boy Christian Burgess is aiming for promotion from Sky Bet League 2 after completing a move from Peterborough United.
The powerful central defender has signed a three-year contract with Paul Cook’s side and he is optimistic for the future, after having a chance to familiarise himself with his new surroundings.Burgess believes that everything is in place to allow Portsmouth to compete at the higher-end of the division, and he is already eager to get the season underway.
“This is a massive club and the set-up down here is great,” the defender, who played 32 times for The Posh last term, said to his new club’s official site.
“I got a call from the gaffer, had a look round and everything was first class.
“It doesn’t feel like a League 2 club – there are more fans here than at most League 1 sides.
“Hopefully we can move up the leagues and we want to meet the expectations that there are of us.
“I’m excited to be here and am looking forward to what is hopefully an exciting season ahead.”
