Charlton Athletic’s newest recruit Patrick Bauer says it is a dream come true to have completed a move to England.
Bauer has spent time in Germany and, most recently, in Portugal with Maritimo, but he always wanted to experience playing in the English game. That ambition has turned into a reality now and the commanding defender is pleased to have signed on in The Football League at The Valley.
“I’m really proud to be here in England, it was always one of my dreams,” the 22-year-old said.
“It was very nice for me to feel the interest of Charlton and I’m really proud to be here now.
“In Madeira, even in winter, it’s no less than 15 degrees, it will be a big change, but the English football is great and I’m really happy to be here.”

Bauer is the first senior signing that Charlton have made this summer and he is optimistic that his team-mates have what it takes to challenge in the upper echelons of the Sky Bet Championship during the forthcoming campaign.
“I know Charlton finished in 12th place last season and we are trying to make it better this season.
“But first of all, I think it’s very important to get to know all of the team and get to know the city and I think then, everything goes from there.”
