The two Capital One Cup Round 1 fixtures to be broadcast live on Sky Sports have been announced.
Portsmouth’s meeting with Derby County and Doncaster Rovers’ match against Leeds United are the two games which will be shown live.Pompey will go head-to-head with the Rams on Wednesday 12th August at 7:45pm, with the Yorkshire derby taking place in front of the Sky Sports cameras 24 hours later.
Those two matches will kick-off Sky Sports' exclusive live coverage of the 2015/16 Capital One Cup, which will see two matches per round screened live on television, including both legs of January's semi-finals, before the final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 28th February 2016.
Gary Hughes, Head of Football at Sky Sports, said: “The Capital One Cup is a chance for teams from across all four leagues to lay a marker down and claim the first piece of silverware of the season, it always provides drama and excitement.
"We look forward to many more special moments in the forthcoming season.”
Pompey’s match against Derby presents an intriguing storyline, as it will be the first cup matches for both teams under their new respective managers.
The League 2 outfit are now under the charge of Paul Cook, while the Rams have appointed Paul Clement to take over from Steve McClaren.
It is the first time that the pair have faced each other since 2012, when they were both in the second tier.
Doncaster and Leeds, meanwhile, are very familiar opponents and bragging rights will be on the line in the Round 1 tie on Thursday 13th August, which also kicks off at 7:45pm.
The match will be Uwe Rosler’s first competitive away game in charge of Leeds after he took over earlier this summer.
The two sides met in the Sky Bet Championship as recently as 2013/14, when the travelling team won each league game, while Leeds triumphed 3-1 at the Keepmoat in that season's Capital One Cup campaign.
The pair also clashed in the League Cup in 2011/12 and it was Leeds who ran out winners on that occasion, coming from a goal down to record a 2-1 away victory.
